From an early age, Joe Sacco loved art and nature. Spending his summers in the pristine Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors.
After an early education in the Finger Lakes region, it was there where he learned the art of oil painting from an old French artist who taught him composition, color, and light.
Joe moved to Arizona in 1975 to finish his education at Arizona State University and while attending, traveled the west. Joe’s love of the outdoors inspires his paintings. The textures and colors of the natural world come through with vibrancy and light in his landscapes and seascapes.
His recent works are inspired by the indigenous colors of the Southwest region and the luminous turquoise colored water of the Pacific.
Painting gives me the opportunity to express myself, to relive a place in time and to share it with others!
A developer in the Phoenix area, Joe and his family reside in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
